Portfolio

 Making this portfolio was a lot more difficult than I anticipated. It took me a really long time to get the hang of where everything was and how to use it on inDesign. I had trouble coming up with a good color scheme, but am happy with the one I chose because I feel it integrates well with the majority of my work.

Commercial - Happy Honey

This project really made me appreciate all the work and effort animators put into films and t.v. shows. I made my commercial on “Happy Honey”, making the theme message that this honey is made by the happiest workers, and comes from the happiest flowers to make you happy. This animation highlights dancing flowers, spinning flowers, and buzzing bees. Some technical aspects i would work on to strengthen this project would include extending the amount of time the flowers dance, and choosing a bee that doesn’t clash with the style of the rest of the picture.

Collage Project

BLACK BEAUTY

pictures used to make this blended collage:

I used the lyric “if I had it my way I’d paint the sky black, so i could make a night time of today” from Lana del rey’s song Black Beauty. This quote has always inspired my mind to wander and has inspired many of my own poems and paintings, so i decided to let it inspire me in this project. I  am very happy with how this turned out, specifically how well the blending makes everything come together. I think this project allows viewers to come up with a story with a story to go along with the image, which was my goal. The only thing i would do to improve this is give the farmer back the top of his ear.

Photoshop Magazine Project

I based my magazine off of a variety of music/fashion magazines including Rolling Stone and Complex Magazine. The biggest challange I faced was incorporating the two extra pictures in a smooth manner that gave the magazine a clean look. This was challenging because I like magazines that have one cover picture and minimal text, so I had to recreate the image I had in my head for my magazine. I made the name of my magazine Howler because I took it from my logo project company name, Fox's Howl. I really like the name of the magazine.

Put yourself in a place you've never been before!

This assignment was fun, and not too difficult for me. I enjoyed putting myself in a place I've never been and making it look like I belonged (the prom dress helped a little :) ). I focused on changing the tone in color my my part of the picture, since the background is very greenbased.

HTML Watermelon ... yum

This was by far the hardest project for me to complete. However, once I started to understand the techniques, it became more clear.It definitely helped to trace the inspiration picture onto a graph before starting the project on the computer. I think i did really good with color matching to the original image. To add more dimension to this photo, I would add the underpart of the watermelon and shade it darker green as seen in the inspiration picture.
The Inspiration:

My Code:

<!DOCTYPE HTML>

<script>
window.onload = function() {
var canvas = document.getElementById("myCanvas");
var context = canvas.getContext("2d");

context.beginPath();
context.rect(0, 0, 650, 500);
context.strokeStyle= '#FFFFFF'

var grd = context.createRadialGradient(90, 10, 0, 100, 100, 600);
grd.addColorStop(0, '#FFFFFF');
grd.addColorStop(1, '#66CCFF');
context.fillStyle = grd
context.fill();

context.stroke();

//main pink
context.beginPath();
context.moveTo(300, 0);
context.lineTo(50, 300);
context.quadraticCurveTo(300, 450, 555, 325);

Vector Illustration

I did my  Vector illustration on a photo of Johnny, the lead singer of the band Highly Suspect. This was very time consuming and took me a while to get hte hang of. I am very happy with the face and hair results. To enhance this image i would add more detail to his shirt, and make some sort of a realistic background.

Corpse Project

I liked this project a alot ! I am pretty happy with how this turned out, especially the face! I had a lot of trouble getting the arms to look less hairy, so it tied together with the face a little better. I like how the tentacles turned out too!

Final Logo for "Forte Fox" (might be changed back to Fox's Howl)

FORTE FOX

final logo

Julia Murzynski

A little bit more about Forte Fox and the story behind its logo:
I picked the name Forte Fox because it translates to loud fox, which is an oxymoron. This oxymoron represents the company because this is a company that seeks and shows the unknown, beautiful musical sounds of the world and shows them to their audience of alternative music enthusiasts who want to hear something more than the overplayed radio hits all of us know by heart. Foxes are a silent animal in the woods, they symbolize the hidden music waited to be discovered by this company. The headphones above the fox's head form into somewhat of a cloud shape, representing the cloud of music being discovered by this company.

Inital Sketches

Here are my sketches.
For some reason I misinterpreted the assignment, and thought that we were supposed to take logos and use them as inspiration for our own logo. So, these sketches do reflect my own take on logos from other companies, but applying it to my own. However, the final logo I created to turn in is completely my own. Without further ado...

Logo Critical Reviews

I like the way this fox is cut into simple shapes, yet has a unique and dynamic appeal to it. The circular form of the fox is relative to the company "Foxography" because it seems to represent a camera lens.... which makes photography happen. This is a successful logo because it is appealing and catches the eye, all while staying simple and staying relative to the point of the company.

This logo is unforgettable to me. I love that the figure of the person has a vinyl record in the place of a head and headphones over the "head." I find this logo to be successful because the second you look at it you know that this is a logo that will appeal to the eyes of those in the music industry. The formal attire of the figure says something about the company being professional. This logo is very recognizable.

This logo is successful for the internet company "Firefox" because the image clearly represents a fox with a tale that also looks like fire. The fox is wrapped around a globe, which represents the worldwide web being covered when a person uses this internet browser.

This logo is simple and understaded, yet very recognizable.  This is for the music discovery site Soundcloud. The shape of the cloud represents the cloud of storage that holds a mass amount of music, albums, and tracks. The bars on the left side of the cloud represent the sound waves which are used on every track in Soundcloud.

I don't know anything about the company that this fox logo represents. However, The foxes head multiplies as what appears to be a cube. This fox is very geometric in its lines; having no organic lines. However, to me this fox doesn't really tell me anything about the company, and I feel as if it is easily forgotten about and could be easily mixed up with the first logo I showed, or any other geometrically lined fox logo.

Pondering Ideas of Fictional Companies

Ideas for Fictional Companies

(I have some pretty creative ideas....)

  1. "Moonwalk Creperie" with this idea I was thinking that a crepe looks a lot like a moon, and to have that be the main symbol of the company (I'm hoping to come up with a better name).
  2. "Black Tulip" I really like black tulips, I forget the real name but when I went to Amsterdam there were these tulips that were purple/black. I enjoy dark colors in clothing and home decoration so I would form this into a company that fits into that category.
  3. "Howl of a Fox" Music discovery is a huge part of my life. Foxes have always felt like my spirit animal just because they are so silent and private, but when they are seen it is so majestic and beautiful. When I find music what strikes gold for me is something that has been unseen and unheard of, but when I hear it for the first time it blesses my ears with majestic beauty.
  4. "Coffee Bean Steam" I like my coffee, but I cannot drink Starbucks anymore because all I taste is artificial chemicals... BLEH. I'm all about that fresh roast coffee, straight from the bean. .. Steam as in energy.
  5. "Florist Gump" This is just me combining my love for flowers and Forrest Gump into one. The logo for this would be mainly textual. I'm thinking the logo would be "run florist run! for your fastest delivery"

Hello Blogger World!

Greetings

My name is Julia Murzynski, and I am a student here at the University of Tampa. here is a little bit about myself! I love my cat, Pearl. My parents immigrated to the U.S. from Poland (they met at Dunkin' Donuts in Connecticut). Also, I love music whether it be playing the piano or looking for new punk rock bands. I am sortof a loner, so most of the time you can find me in a corner reading Stephen King, or attempting to draw (usually failing), or taking "Which Dog Breed Is Best For Me?" quizzes.

Being enrolled in Beginning Digital Arts I hope to gain some knowledge of how I can use Illustrator and other sources to turn the ideas in my head into a real image/graphic/logo. I love exploring and pushing the boundaries of my creativity, so I took this class to learn how to express my creativity through a new medium. :) Here is a picture of bunnies with melted ice cream cones on their heads that I really enjoy, along with a picture of me and a tree:
